Surface is an American magazine exploring contemporary architecture, art, design, fashion, and travel. Under the creative direction of Matthias Ernstberger, Jong Woo Si contributed to the magazine’s visual identity and editorial design.

The magazine’s identity centers on a distinctive wordmark based on Caslon Graphique. By cropping the lower portion of the letterforms, the design creates a visual interpretation of the word “surface.” The bold typography establishes a recognizable identity, while its refined proportions complement the magazine’s editorial focus on contemporary design and culture.
