The Challenge
Southern Pines Brewing Company was transforming a historic landmark into a multi-use destination. The challenge was to create a brand system that honored the legacy of The Buggy Factory while feeling fresh, cohesive, and adaptable across a wide range of applications—print, signage, packaging, and environmental touchpoints. The identity needed to reflect the heritage of the site without feeling nostalgic or dated, and it had to work seamlessly for a brewery, restaurant, and outdoor venue all under one roof.
The SOLUTION
JD&Co developed a flexible identity system inspired by the original character and craftsmanship of The Buggy Factory. Iconic graphic elements, typography, and visual cues drawn from the building’s heritage were reinterpreted into a modern, scalable system applied throughout the brand—menus, interior and exterior signage, merchandise, packaging, and on-site photography. The visual language reinforces the sense of place while giving Southern Pines Brewing a unified voice across every touchpoint. These clips showcase how the new identity system captures the legacy of the site and demonstrates how these historic elements are thoughtfully woven into the entire brand experience.
The RESULT
The new identity reintroduced The Buggy Factory as a community anchor and destination, elevating Southern Pines Brewing’s presence in downtown Carthage. The cohesive brand system strengthened the guest experience—from beer garden events to dining and retail—while creating a recognizable visual foundation that can grow with the venue. The Buggy Factory now stands as a revitalized landmark that connects tradition with contemporary craft culture.
